Air Warfare Simulations

AWS Goals

  • Provide high quality software and support our customers with integrity and professionalism, going beyond what is required to do what is right.
  • Provide the warfighter with the best training and tactical weapon system software in the world.

Zone Acquisition Program (ZAP)

Our Zone Acquisition Program (ZAP) established and remains the standard for real-time weapons assessment. In the form of the Zone Acquisition Program Common Weapon Engagement Zone (or ZAP Common WEZ), it has been integrated into the Operational Flight Program system of a variety of U.S. fighter planes (including the F-15, F/A-18, F-16, F-35, and F-22), where it offers pilots real-time combat decision aids and visual cues. The ZAP system was a revolutionary leap in capability for the US warfighter both in training and the battlespace, replacing low-fidelity coefficient driven algorithms, with accurate high-speed simulations, calculating dynamic launch zones (DLZ), launch acceptability regions (LAR), and missile launch envelope (MLE) to display cues in real-time.

SimBuilder

SimBuilder is an unclassified data-driven weapons system and countermeasure simulation solution for Live-Virtual-Constructive (LVC) training systems, including live air combat, virtual flight simulators, and synthetic battlespaces. The SimBuilder library models all the major weapon subsystems needed to accurately assess performance (i.e., aerodynamics, guidance, seeker, propulsion, autopilot). SimBuilder’s physics-based 5DoF flyout models are designed for efficient real-time operation and include air-to-air, air-to-surface, surface-to-air, anti-radiation, and cruise missiles, aircraft guns, bombs and rockets, countermeasures, and more.

The KC-135 BOSS

The KC-135 BOSS simulator is a state of the art training device capable of providing a high fidelity immersive training environment in a compact device. The KC-135 BOSS is designed to support complete boom operator training curriculum (Initial Qualification, Difference Qualification, Certification, Re-qualification, Mission Certification and Instructor Upgrade Training) and meet Aerial Refueling Airplane Simulator Qualification (ARASQ) standards. It is designed for squadron level training and to be operated by unit personnel with the option of dedicated on-site contractor personnel.

FACETT

The FAAC Air Combat Environment for Testing and Training (FACETT) is a desktop software solution for simulating air combat engagements for weapons testing, tactics development, and post-combat debriefing. The first-person flight simulator employs 3D graphics and accurately emulates in-craft Multi-Function Display (MFD) and Heads-Up Display (HUD) systems. Not only can you create hypothetical air-combat scenarios to evaluate weapon employment tactics, you can also replay real events from TSPI data, or even network FACETT with live systems for real-time weapon employment assessment. (FACETT is fully compatible with the SimBuilder weapon simulation software.)

Air Warfare Training Customer-for-Life

FAAC was founded in 1971 specifically to create military weapons simulations. These military simulation training technologies have become the standard for real-time military weapons training and assessment. FAAC advancements including the leap to high-fidelity simulation (leaving behind low-fidelity coefficient-driven algorithms) and head tracking technology (providing a superior simulation of depth perception) help trainees learn critical skills safely and affordably.

FAAC embraces a “Customer for Life” philosophy. We invest time in understanding your assets and objectives, work closely with your team to develop and deliver the appropriate simulation solution, and help you find the best way to integrate this custom solution into your training procedures. Most importantly, we support you in maintaining and evolving this solution as your policies, assets, and challenges inevitably change over time.

We don’t sell equipment; we partner with agencies and their instructors to develop their ideal tools for Air Force pilot training. Using simulated fighter aircraft interiors, the flying experience obtained within the simulation can translate into real-life skills used on the job. Whether your pilots are preparing for “dogfighting” air-to-air combat scenarios, air-to-surface missile usage, or any other skill set, FAAC can provide high-fidelity simulated training missions that will have a real impact on pilot performance.

The Guided Weapon Evaluation Facility (GWEF) at Eglin Air Force Base is currently procuring a new cockpit simulator to interface with their test systems. The GWEF provides test support for developing and evaluating precision-guided weapons in simulated “real world” environments. Promising ideas and concepts can be iteratively tested, analyzed and improved in the GWEF as a precursor to initial field/flight testing. Actual operational test anomalies can be investigated and resolved in the GWEF by replicating the test environment (complete controllability and repeatability of simulated test scenario).
